Piano Removalists Balwyn
Your Trusted Piano Transport Specialists
Safe Piano Removalists Balwyn
Moving a 250kg upright piano or a heavy baby grand around Balwyn isn't something you risk with a mate and a standard trailer. All the weight sits top-heavy behind the cast-iron frame. One wrong tilt on a front step off Mont Albert Road and the whole casing tips, cracking the soundboard, snapping leg pins, or putting a massive hole straight through your hallway plaster.
If you need a real piano removalist Balwyn crew who knows how to handle heavy instruments without destroying floors or wrecking your back, our blokes handle the heavy lifting daily using proper gear and plain hard work.
- Heavy piano shoes and thick timber skid boards to lock the main body flat before moving.
- Thick 50mm webbing straps so the casing stays tied down solid on the drive.
- Wide non-marking rubber wheels to roll across polished floorboards without leaving tracks.
- Multi-man shoulder harness teams float heavy uprights up front entry steps safely.
- Tail-lift trucks fitted with hydraulic platforms to keep the harp level from ground to truck bed.

Taking down a baby grand takes patience and the right order. We unbolt the lyre, take off the legs, and strap the soundboard sideways onto a padded shoe. Every leg and wooden piece gets wrapped in heavy quilted blankets so nothing takes a scratch when turning tight corners in older 1920s heritage homes near Balwyn High.
Uprights aren't any easier. Dropping 200kg down a set of narrow brick steps takes real leverage. We lay down thick timber ramps, cover step edges with padded runners, and use two to three blokes on the lower end with shoulder straps to control the drop. No rushing, no bouncing off doorframes.

Got Questions About Moving a Piano in Balwyn?
Can standard furniture movers shift my upright piano in Balwyn?
Most standard crews don't carry proper piano shoes, timber skid boards, or heavy-duty rubber trolleys. Using thin furniture straps on a cast-iron harp can snap the straps or warp the internal key bed under heavy load.
Will the piano stay in tune after being shifted?
We keep the instrument completely flat using hydraulic tail-lifts and padded quilts to shield it from sudden weather changes. Even so, the change in room humidity at your new place will shift string tension slightly over a couple of weeks, so plan for a tune-up after it settles in.
How do you handle steep driveways or steps around Balwyn?
We check the site access first. If there are front steps or a steep brick driveway, we set up heavy wooden ramps, wrap door archways, and run shoulder harnesses so the crew keeps total physical control of the weight every inch of the way.
What details do I need to send through for a quote?
Just tell us if it's an upright or a grand, the rough height or length, how many steps are at both places, and if there are any tight turns or gravel paths. We'll give you a direct price without hidden tailgate charges at the end of the day.
